About Jane

In Every Stitch, a Story

Hi, I’m Jane—mum to Ava and Hugh, proud co-founder of The Little Capsule Co., and the kind of person who reheats her coffee more times than she’d like to admit. Parenting, business, and coffee all have something in common for me: they’re messy, imperfect, and beautiful in ways you’d never expect.

The Spark Behind The Little Capsule Co.

The Little Capsule Co. was born from some of the most bittersweet moments of my life. On New Year’s Day 2023, I welcomed my daughter Ava into the world. She was born as a micro-prem in the late second trimester and passed away the next morning due to complications from preterm birth. In those hours, I found myself wanting to give her something uniquely hers—something small enough to fit her, but also something that could carry all the love and dreams I had for her.

That something didn’t exist in Canberra, or was accessible within the timeframe I needed.

The experience left me with a deep sense of purpose: to create a place where parents could find clothing that meets them at every stage of their journey, no matter how unexpected. Together with my long-time friend and co-founder, Micaela, who stood by me during the hardest days - she literally babysat me while I spent maternity leave without a baby - we built The Little Capsule Co. to be just that.

More Than Just a Store

For me, The Little Capsule Co. is so much more than a store. It’s a way to honour Ava’s memory while supporting families in ways I wish I’d been supported.

Our store is a home for:

  • Parents who want thoughtfully curated clothes that tell a story.

  • Families who need micro-prem sizes because, like me, they didn’t plan to shop for a baby so tiny or complicated.

  • Mums looking for connection through our community programs like Mamma Mingle, because no one should feel isolated in those early years; irrespective of their journey.

A Personal Approach

After three very different experiences of parenting—a miscarriage in 2022, Hugh I got to bring home in 2024, and Ava who I didn’t in 2023—I’ve become incredibly sensitive to how we interact with families. At TLCco Store, we avoid intrusive questions, focus on genuine care, and aim to make every shopping experience feel like you’re visiting an old friend. I want every parent to feel supported, understood, and—most importantly—celebrated.

Why It Matters

Clothing is about so much more than just fabric—it tells a story. For me, it’s a way of marking milestones, cherishing memories, and finding joy in the everyday. When Hugh outgrows an outfit, I feel a mix of pride that he’s thriving and excitement to find something new for him to explore the world in.

At The Little Capsule Co., every piece of clothing carries that same energy. Whether it’s a tiny onesie for a premmie baby or a twirl-worthy dress for a budding ballerina, it’s about celebrating life, growth, and the moments in between.

My Hope for the Future

Looking ahead, I hope we continue to make a difference—not just by providing beautiful clothing, but by creating a ripple effect of impact. From funding research to make pregnancy and birth safer to reducing landfill through circular fashion, every purchase here truly plays its part.

More than anything, I hope no parent ever has to experience the heartbreak of not being able to find something special enough for their child, no matter their story.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’re shopping, selling, or simply stopping by to say hello, you’re part of something so much bigger—and I’m forever grateful.

Jane xx
